We're Focused on You
At the Aikido Center of Los Angeles, we teach Aikido as a martial art and believe that budo training is a form of Shugyo or austere practice which strives to improve one’s physical self while developing one’s inner self at the same time. To accomplish this Shugyo style of training, our dojo emphasizes technical proficiency with respectful etiquette in a supportive, but sensibly disciplined environment. We only ask that you come with a patient, open and willing attitude.
We're Historically Aligned
The Aikido Center of Los Angeles is the only dojo in Los Angeles that is formally recognized by the Aikikai Foundation, Aikido World Headquarters in Japan. Our dojo and many of our members also are active in the Japanese American community in Los Angeles.
We Have the Experience
Since 1974, the Aikido Center of Los Angeles has specialized in providing expert traditional instruction in the arts of Aikido and Iaido in the tradition of our dojo founder, Reverend Kensho Furuya. We are dedicated to proliferating the traditions and benefits of Japanese culture through training in the arts of Aikido and Iaido. We may exist as a business but we are not a business. The Aikido Center of Los Angeles is first and foremost a traditional martial arts dojo and all of our instructors are volunteers.
